no they wont.
go read my thread sticked called 1.41 upgrade/patch or whatever its called. theres a link for the hitsounds. after you isntall them into your main folder when you connect to 1.41 you have to type /hitsound inthe console. you have to do that every time you connect.

Alright, and my game hiccups every 5 secs or so, causing fps drop and freezing...tried diffrent cfgs, know my way with commands but I couldnt figure the problem yet. Only on 1.4

hmm idk about that. I recently aqquired a cfg that when i vid_restart my wolf only loads halfway then it just stops...  |

I always just bound hitsound rather than look for a way to make it automatic. Pretty sure all the shrub servers in 1.4 will automatically give you the required shrub pk3.'s etc to do it
As for the other problem, all I can say with the information given so far is to try all of the basic generic things
- Make sure virus scans aren't running
- Check rate/cl_maxpackets and related network settings set to appropriate values? (rate = 250000, cl_maxpackets = 100)
- Is the problem specific to rtcw 1.4?, if so, is pb updated? (maybe even try pb_security 0 and pb_sleep 500, though I doubt they'd be anything more than a placebo)
Use cg_lagometer 1, if the hiccups sync with red or yellow lines on the graph, then that indicates packet loss or lag respectively
