yeah i was there when the phillies won the world series, and yes, the city was absolutely insane, but insane in an awesome way. didn't see anyone setting cars on fire or looting buildings.

I'm not trying to argue I just have family that lives there that say different, Maby you were in a nicer part of it I don't know, as for oakland they have never been known for being a nice set of individual's, I know boston itself is known for it's arrogance. Just because I'm Canadian it doesn't mean I'm all over Hockey like Eclipse is with Basket ball. I rather watch snowboarding, or skiing then watch a bunch of dudes play a game of rough house. They don't even play the sport for the sake of Hockey, so many missed calls, to many rough players, to many people who whine about this and that. I'm also a snowboarder, that could be why I'm not a fan of Hockey, since I never play Hockey.

about the main theme I won´t say anything since Iam not into hockey or the whole US vs. Canada lovey dovey rivalry buuuuuuut...

...no offense guys but I doubt that anyone in here gotz a clue or can imagine just a lil lil lil about european-soccer riots / fan-culture at all.
Iam member of Ultras Rapid ´88 since almost 16years (with over 400 members the biggest fanclub of the club SK Rapid Vienna), we got friendships with fanclubs from Greece (PAO Gate13), Italy (UVM), Germany (UN) so we perfectly know whats going on also in other leagues all over europe and in countrys like Greece-Italy-England and also Austria a few games like the Derby´s between Rapid Vienna vs. FAK Vienna, in Grecce PAO vs .Olympiacos or in Italy Lazio vs. Roma its war, pure war and trust me you cant compare that with that party like riot that happened in Canada after the hockey game.

The big and maybe sad difference is that if is shit going down over here after a Derby for example nobody does aim to destroy cars, nobody goes to destroy shops or anything like that, it is simple meant to hurt our enemys as bad as you can and the police too and sadly do we have every year alot of killed fans because of that.
2007 for example a good friend of mine, he was member of PAO Gate13,Greece.
Mixah got killed before a Ladies!!! volleyball game between the two biggest rival clus PAO and Olympiacos so it has nothing to do with just soccer or the sport, its simple pure hate between those clubs, hate that started in some cases 50years ago and will last for 100 years more, no doubt.

I giggle when I read things like *I dont read about riots in europe* lol, thats funny cause in the last few months we had more riots in europe after and during soccer games then we had the whole last year I guess, best example was the big riot during the Derby in Vienna about 3 weeks ago, Ultras Rapid and friends from all over europe did enter the playingfield in the first half time, injured Policeman, fans, arrested ppl, the game got stopped and so on and just cause ya didnt read about it doesnt mean it didnt happen.
Like I said its not compareable cause the Law over here is different and the fanclubs do this kind of things mostly *private* and not that much after or before games cause if they catch you you will see never ever a stadium from the inside again, a lifetime.
Therefor we make it private on empty places, streets or whatever maybe therefor you dont read about it but trust me stuff like that happens at every game-day all over europe.

To understand this whole Ultra / Hooligan movement you have to be with us for one season, the friendship, the time we spend with each other while we go at away games, the songs we sing in the stadium, the vibe its something ya cant explain when ya never lived it and therefor is it also hard to judge about it and simple say *all stupid Hooligans* cause maybe thats right and a few of us are stupid Hooligans and life the *Sieg oder Spielabbruch* way of life but others are like Iam, normal Job, normal friends and family but green/white in heart and full of passion at every singel game-day...
